A whistleblower from the Commodities Reserves Agency said the latter had been victim of political pressure. The accusations refer to the purchasing of protective personal equipment.
Ivan Gale said on RTV Slovenija's show Tarča last night that certain providers had been favoured. According to him, the agency sidelined by task forces set up at the Ministries of Economy and Defence.
According to Gale, Economy Minister Zdravko Počivalšek had personally intervened in favour of a ventilator contract with the company Geneplanet worth EUR 8 million. As of today, Gale is under police protection.
Minister Počivalšek denies any wrongdoing, describing the latest reports as an orchestrated "hunt on his head".
Meanwhile, the opposition Marjan Šarec List aims to initiate a vote of no-confidence in Počivalšek over his role in the purchases. Morever, they said that a vote of no-confidence in the entire government was a possibility, too.
