Prime minister Marjan Šarec will meet today with the newly elected leader of the pensioners’ party, DeSUS.
On Saturday, the party elected Aleksandra Pivec as its new leader. She said it was a special day for the party and Slovenian politics.
The former head of the party, Karl Erjavec, made a surprise announcement that he would step down as defence minister and only remain a member of the party.
This means the cabinet could be reshuffled. DeSUS now has to put forward a candidate to replace Erjavec as minister.
Pivec said DeSUS was interested in the labor ministry, but the coalition party that currently has it (the SMC) said it was not interested.
