The first summer-break weekend, that is also lengthened because of a national holiday on Monday brought flocks of cars from home and abroad onto Slovenian highways. Delays have been reported throw-out the whole day, especially on the coastal highway towards Croatia. This weekend is also the official start of the tourist season, meaning that heavy delays can be expected from now on, on every weekend until the end of August. Some new restrictions for trucks over 7 tons and a half have also set in, to ease the expected delays a bit. Trucks weren’t allowed to drive on Sundays and national holidays from 8 AM until 9 PM before, but between the summer break, they are also not allowed to drive on Saturdays from 8 AM until 1 PM. On the coastal highway, the restrictions are even longer, on Saturdays between 6 AM and 6 PM and on Sundays and holidays from 8 AM until 10 PM.
