In 1813, Fran Miklošič is born. He became one of the most important Slovene linguists. He influenced the Slovenian literary language, especially in the stabilization of orthography.

In 1858, the Swedish writer Selma Lagerlöf is born. She was the first female writer to win the Nobel Prize in Literature, and was best known for her children's book The Wonderful Adventures of Nils.

In 1910, the Russian writer, politician and writer Leo Tolstoy dies. He wrote the novels War and Peace and Anna Karenina.

In 1925, Robert F. Kennedy, American Democratic politician, and brother of U. S. President John, is born. In 1968, he was the victim of an assassination.

In 1945, the Nuremberg trial begins. Leading people of Nazi Germany were put on trial for war crimes and crimes against peace and humanity. Most of the prisoners were sentenced to death or long prison sentences.

MUSIC HISTORY

1955 - In the No. 1 spot on the British singles chart is the song which changed forever the history of pop music. It is 'Rock Around The Clock' performed by Bill Haley & His Comets.

1971 - Isaac Hayes is No. 1 on the American singles chart with 'Theme From Shaft', for which he received a Grammy for best film music.

1993 - Phil Collins is No. 1 on the British albums chart with the album 'Both Sides'.

Leta 1598 je umrl eden prvih slovenskih protestantskih piscev Adam Bohorič. Leta 1584 je izdal prvo slovensko slovnico Zimske urice proste.

Leta 1813 se je rodil Fran Miklošič, eden najpomembnejših slovenskih filologov. Vplival je na slovenski knjižni jezik, predvsem na pravopis.

Leta 1945 se je začelo sojenje v Nurbergu. Sodili so vodilnim ljudem nacistične Nemčije zaradi vojnih zločinov. Večina je bila obsojena na smrt ali dolgoletne zaporne kazni.
