IZOLA
Izola is one of three Slovenian coastal towns. It used to be an island as its name indicates – ‘isola’ is the Italian word for island. It wasn’t connected to the mainland until the end of the 18th century. Today it’s a tourist town with attractions around every corner.
KAMNIŠKA BISTRICA
Kamniška Bistrica is a picturesque glacial valley, extending into the heart of the Kamnik Alps. The valley is full of attractions and a popular starting point for ascents to the surrounding peaks, including the high-altitude plateau of Velika planina, which boasts one of the most picturesque shepherd’s settlements in Europe.
SCULPTOR MIRKO BRATUŠA
Mirko Bratuša is considered one of the most innovative and witty Slovenian sculptors. His original and unique sculptures are very provocative, just begging for reactions, never leaving their observers indifferent. They also reflect his love of technical matters and mechanics.
LAVENDER IN THE KARST
Over the last ten years, the Slovenian Karst has become increasingly reminiscent of Provence, as it is decorated with purple fields of captivatingly fragrant lavender. This new, highly versatile agricultural culture in the Karst region is also used by the local population to prevent overgrowth of the landscape.
JEWELLERY DESIGNER BOJANA K. ZEMLJIČ
Bojana Kovačič Zemljič creates unique jewellery distinguished for its bold and aesthetic combinations of different materials and colours. Her pieces are even worn in Hollywood. The designer isn’t only bold in her professional but also in her private life.
