SLOVENSKA BISTRICA CASTLE
The castle in Slovenska Bistrica in the north-east of the country is closely connected with the development of this city. The castle has been given an indelible mark by the Attems family who owned it for nearly 230 years. It was the Attems family who arranged in it a magnificent knights’ hall with frescoes. Today, the castle is a great venue for cultural events in the city.                                                                                                                                                             
PAINTER MIRA LIČEN
Painter and restorer Mira Ličen lives in the coastal town of Piran. It is this lively Mediterranean landscape full of sunshine and light that has made the greatest impact on her work and has become the leading feature of her creations. She is also drawn to spiritual and religious motifs, so her sacral opus is also quite extensive.                                                                              
CHOREOGRAPHER VALENTINA TURCU
Valentina Turcu, an internationally acclaimed choreographer and former dancer who attended the famous Rudra Bejart Ballet Academy in Switzerland, creatively participated in some 130 ballet, theatre and opera productions. She is fully committed to the revival and re-interpretation of great literary classics which, on stage, come to life through her visionary 
BLACKSMITH JOŽE KRMELJ            
Master blacksmith Jože Krmelj is the only in Slovenia to have mastered the art of forging Damascus steel. This is an ancient, highly demanding technique, which has remained unchanged to this day. His knives made from Damascus steel are genuine and unique masterpieces.                                                                                                                                                  
ROSTED CHESTNUTS                                                                                                                                
In Slovenia, chestnuts are amongst the most popular autumn fruits. In the past, this healthy and nutritious fruit helped stave off hunger. Today, various gourmet delicasies are made from chestnuts, which are particularly delicious when roasted. From October up until the end of January, you can also get roasted chestnuts on the streets of all the major cities in Slovenia.
