The Slovenian Association of 1941-1945 Deportees is marking the Day of Slovenian Deportees
The association would like to raise awareness among young generations about the genocide policy of Fascists and Nazis during WWII
The Day of Slovenian Deportees will be marked by organised hiking tours along what was the German-Italian border, and the border of the Independent State of Croatia during occupation
The deportation of Slovenians began in April 1941. 63.000 were exiled from Slovenia. 17.000 fled to avoid deportation. Among the deported were also around 20.000 children.
Now, still around 9000 of them are alive.
