German chancellor Merkel still believes in a good compromise

The current status is that apperarantly Frans Timmermans, of the socialists is no longer in the run. The EPP is to still be insisting on their candidate Manfred Weber of Germany.

To be appointed, the next Commission president needs the support of at least 72% of the 28 member states, who must represent at least 65% of the EU population.

Unofficiallly the member states are not satisfied with the negotiation process led by President of the European council Tusk.

The goals is that the EU members agree on the leading posts before 9 o'clock tomorrow when the voting on the new president of the European parliament starts.
