The Association of beverage producers at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry is calling for the introduction of a deposit refund system for plastic bottles. Talks on the issue with the Environment Ministry have been under way for two years now. The association believes that the existing system of collecting plastic bottle waste separately from other waste does not work and will not help achieve the national environmental targets.
Several other associations and NGOs have joined the appeal.
