The Farmers' Trade Union expressed expectations of dialogue and a focus on the well-being of the countryside, agriculture, and food safety.

Čalušić's nomination comes somewhat as a surprise after retired army major Vojko Adamič had been considered the favourite for the post.

The 36-year-old will likely be quizzed by the Agriculture Committee next week. She is then expected to be appointed by the National Assembly.
