A Slovenian citizen has reportedly been arrested as part of an international investigation into the escape of Russian businessman Artyom Uss from house arrest in Italy. He was facing extradition to the US. Instead a Slovenian citizen was allegedly among those who helped the Russian escape. He reportedly fled by car through Slovenia, Croatia, and to Serbia, where he left for Russia. Italian investigators determined he used four cars for the trip.
Uss was arrested in Italy in October 2022 and was due to face charges in the US of shipping oil from Venezuela in breach of sanctions, and of bank fraud.
