The 200th anniversary of the birth of Davorin Trstenjak will be honored today at Sv. Jurij ob Ščavnici. Trstenjak was a Slovenian writer, etymologist, historian and priest who was a supporter of the United Slovenia program. He helped raise signatures for the establishment of a unified political entity that would consist of all Slovenian ethnic territory and he was also a co-founder of the prestigious publishing house and scientific society Slovenska matica. A renovated memorial plaque will be layed at a ceremony, following a memorial service in Trstenjak's name. Also attending the ceremony will be the minister for culture Anton Peršak.
