The 60th annual Sheep ball or Ovčarski bal, the oldest ethnographic event in Slovenia, will take place today. The event is organized by the tourist association turistično društvo Jezersko and the guest house Gostišče ob Planšarskem jezeru. Visitors of the ball will be able to see how people used to live on the mountain decades ago, what were their customs and how they used to process sheep wool, from shearing, spinning, bedding and all the way to knitting socks. The event starts at 11 o’clock with a performance by the Jezersko folklore group and will continue in the afternoon with different festivities and music. The work of the local shepherds is well known also in other countries, as they were awarded several awards from different international livestock exhibitions in Paris.
