A court in Nova Gorica has dismissed fines against a group of 25 Cuban dancers. The group was set to perform in Bovec but had forgotten their passports at their hotel in Italy. Although they were able to get them within an hour they were fined 500 euros each. The mayor of Bovec said he tried calling everyone that could help until only God was left- whose number he didn’t have.
The average Cuban would have to work more than a year to repay the EUR 500 fine. The Cubans were fined as part of a border control campaign conducted by the police.
