Around 7,000 people signed a petition in Brežice against the setting up of an asylum centre in their municipality. The group campaigning against the government plan to set up an asylum centre at the Obrežje border crossing with Croatia, threatens to take matters to court, and even to Brussels, if the government does not listen. The signed petition was handed over to government representatives today.
In February the government decided to establish asylum centres in Obrežje and Središče ob Dravi, but groups of locals in both areas are opposing the plan.
