Leta 1862 se je rodil Johannes Janez Puch, avstrijski avtomobilski izumitelj slovenskega rodu.
Leta 1880 se je rodila ameriška pisateljica Hellen Keller, ki je bila od rojstva slepa in gluha. Uspešno je dokončala univerzo in se posvetila pisanju.
Leta 1985 so zaprli Route 66, najbolj legendarno ameriško cesto, ki je povezovala Chicago in Los Angeles. Na razdalji 3. 940 kilometrov je prečkala tri časovne pasove in osem ameriških zveznih držav.
