Disgraced businessman Igor Bavčar has started serving a five year prison sentence.
Bavčar’s corruption case has dragged on for years but he avoided being sent to prison until now. He was originally sentenced to prison in 2013 but managed to avoid serving time by citing health issues.
His most recent request for a deferral of the sentence was rejected at all levels.
Like all other new prisoners, he will initially be housed in the high-security reception unit.
Bavčar was found guilty of money laundering.
