The National Assembly will start moving towards a real estate tax today.

The first step will involve working on a property valuation bill.

The goal is to carry out a new mass appraisal of real estate next year under the changed system.

Legislation on valuation of real estate for tax purposes had already been adopted in 2013, but the Constitutional Court annulled it. The new legislation addresses concerns voiced by the court about the old law, most notably a way for property owners to argue against the valuation.
