On this day twenty five years ago Slovenia became a full-fledged member of the UNESCO - United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization. Slovenia joined the specialised UN agency in 1992, only days after becoming a full member of the United Nations.Slovenia is an active member of UNESCO and is currently a member of the organization's executive board. It also has several entries on the UNESCO World Heritage List, including the Škocjan Caves, the decommissioned mercury mine in Idrija, and the prehistoric pile dwellings in the Ljubljana Marshes.
A new cycling route linking the town of Žalec and the city of Celje will be completed by the end of June, according to the Municipality of Žalec.
