At the Institute of Pathology, tissue samples were mistakenly swapped in May last year, leading to a patient undergoing a complete and not partial prostate removal.

The institute acknowledged the error. The Head of the Institute of Pathology Jože Pižem apologized and said they failed to inform the Ministry of Health as they did not know this was the protocol. He added measures have been implemented to prevent similar mistakes in the future.
