One bear was killed, and one hunter injured in the Karst region yesterday. The incident happened during a hunting activity in the area of Štanjel.
The 49-year-old was surprised by a female bear and suffered injuries to the stomach, head, and arms. One of his colleagues saw the attack and killed the bear with a rifle.
Last week a similar incident happened near the Vremščica mountains, in which a bear was also killed. The Slovenian Forest Service says bears are constantly present in the Vremščica area, but that interactions with humans are rare.
