The spat over border controls between Slovenia and Croatia continues. The Croatian president sent a letter of protest to Slovenia and top EU officials. She blamed the long delays at the border on Slovenia. Strict passport controls at the border have led to hour-long delays at the borders.

Slovenia’s foreign minister rejected the claim, saying Slovenia was honoring an EU directive.

Foreign Minister Erjavec also denied that it was an attempt to punish Croatia over a continuing dispute over the border.

Both Slovenian and Croatian officials are worried about what may happen in summer, when thousands of tourists pass through Slovenia.
