Today is the start of Slovenia's Forest Week. The week raises awareness about the importance of forests and forest care and is always held at the end of May. Activities and events will be taking place across the country. This year's main theme is natural forest management, supported by innovative adjustments to climate change.
Marking the start of the week Slovenia's Forestry Service called for more funding in order to carry out the many services it offers.
Around 61% of Slovenia's territory is covered by forests, making it the 4th most forest-covered country in Europe.
