Slovenia has seen a radical increase in illegal migration this year. In the first two months of 2023, police processed more than 5,000 people illegally crossing the border. That’s four times more than the same time last year.
Afghanis were the biggest group, accounting for a fifth of migrants.
Some 834 applications were filed, compared to 944 in 2022.
This year has also seen a rise in migrants from India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal, Syria and the Congo.
