The government has started procedures for Slovenia's recognition of Palestine, Foreign Minister Tanja Fajon said.

The foreign minister hopes that Slovenia would be followed by like-minded countries.

The move comes after PM Robert Golob, together with the PMs of Spain, Ireland and Malta adopted on the margins of an EU summit in March a joint declaration expressing their readiness to recognise Palestine when the circumstances are right, the STA reports.
