The decoration is given out by Austria for outstanding artistic achievements. Lipuš is known for his work “The errors of young Tjaž”. The book was published in his native language, Slovenian in 1972. Nine years later, it was translated into German. In his work, Lipuš talks about the difficult conditions of life in his native region, the constant fight for ethnic rights, and the fight against assimilation.
