Maribor, the host of this year's European Youth Olympic Festival, received a much-needed financial boost from the government today. Prime Minister Robert Golob and the Minister of Economy, Tourism and Sport, Matjaž Han, visited Slovenia's second biggest city today and signed a contract for co-financing the upgrade of Maribor's track-and-field stadium worth 2,8 million euros. PM Golob said Maribor had already proven itself in organizing high-profile events and was confident it would be the same with this event. The European Youth Olympic Festival is considered to be the largest sports event for young athletes and will be held at the end of July. Officials also see the event as an opportunity for the further promotion of Slovenia.
