The National Council vetoed the reintroduction of a rule where businesses would be obliged to give out receipts, and customers required to accept it.
The rule was in force in Slovenia from 2016 to 2022. Currently, businesses are obliged to hand out receipts only if the customer requests it.
The government argued that the lack of receipts would lead to less effective tax collection.
