A partial lockdown goes into effect in Slovenia today. The country is divided into an orange and red region. At the moment, 9 out of Slovenia's 12 regions are in the red. The only regions still designated orange are in the west, and those are the Primorska-Interior, Goriška and Coastal-Karst regions. Those in the red must not leave their regions. Events, rallies, weddings and religious ceremonies are banned in these regions. People in red regions also have to wear masks outside.
Meanwhile starting Monday schools across the country will close for 2 weeks for children attending 6th grade and higher.
The number of new coronavirus infections hit a new record of 834 yesterday.
