Prime Minister Janez Janša met with teacher representatives today to discuss schools reopening, as pressure from the public is increasing.

The PM, medical experts and the Education minister Simona Kustec are still not in favour of schools and kindergartens reopening soon. They argue this would be too risky, since the epidemiological situation has worsened after Christmas and New Year’s holidays.

However, Janša did mention a possibility of opting for a partial reopening, alternating half-classes and half-time schooling, without any mixing of students, under strict control, which would depend on schools themselves.

Schools in Slovenia have been closed since the end of October. However, special schools opened again yesterday.
