Culture Day, which celebrates art and culture on 8th February will be commemorated remotely with a pre-recorded ceremony tonight. At the ceremony, multiple awards including the Prešeren Prize will be handed out. This year the Prešeren awards, which is a lifetime achievement award will go to writer Feri Lainšček and architect Marko Mušič. Meanwhile, the Prešeren Fund Prizes for achievements over the past three years will go to violinist Lana Trotovšek, poet Brane Senegačnik, film director Matjaž Ivanišin, theatre director Tomi Janežič, architects Rok Jereb, Nina Majoranc and Blaž Budja, and painter Sandi Aleksander Červek. Culture day which is organized with the intent of remembering the acclaimed Slovenian poet France Prešeren, will try to inspire hope this year with its slogan "Summons Hope!" from Prešeren's most known poem Zdavljica (Toast).
