The European Court of Human Rights has decided that the applications brought by Slovenian fishermen against Croatia were inadmissible. The decision says that the court does not have the jurisdiction to rule on the validity of the border arbitration.
Some 20 Slovenian fishermen brought action against Croatia after being convicted of minor offences in waters declared Slovenia's by the 2017 decision by a border arbitration tribunal, which Croatia does not recognise.
The ECHR said it did not have the power to rule on the validity of the arbitration, which awarded three quarters of Piran Bay to Slovenia.
