One such major hiking event will trace a mid-19th century literary journey between Litija and Čatež by author Fran Levstik. Hikers will start the 22-kilometre route in Litija between 6 and 9 AM. Another such event is the non-competitive 10-km and 5-km run which will kick off in the southwest region of Kras at 11AM.

The biggest number of visitors is expected at the 34th traditional Martinovanje, an open air event in Maribor. Celebrations will also be held in Ljubljana, Koper Ptuj, Ormož, and many other towns and cities. Slovenians are third in the EU in terms of annual consumption of wine per capita. With 43 litres, Slovenians are well above the EU average of almost 24 litres and trail only the Luxembourgish and Portuguese.
