The 5^th Istria marathon got underway today in Izola. The traditional marathon connects all 4 Slovenian Istrian Municipalities, starting in Ankaran and ending in Izola. Around 5000 runners were expected to participate altogether, choosing between the 42km, 21km or the shorter 8,5 km long run. As every year the run attracts not only Slovenes but also around foreigners. Some even from as far as the United States and Japan. The organizers promised a celebration with live music at the finish line.
