Victims of post-WWII summary executions were honoured today with a ceremony in Kočevski Rog. The ceremony was held at Kren, perhaps the most known mass grave in the area, where the bodies of victims killed by totalitarian Communist authorities were thrown. At today's ceremony the bishop of Novo Mesto and President Borut Pahor appealed for reconciliation. President Pahor said that both sides share responsibility for the conflict and violence, also noting that the post-WWII killings of thousands by the Communist regime was a particularly brutal chapter of Slovenia's history. President Pahor has made national reconciliation over post-war executions one of the central priorities of his presidency.
