Vaccination will start at care homes around the country today after the first 9,750 doses of the Covid-19 vaccine were received in Slovenia yesterday. The vaccine developed by Pfizer and BioNTech will be first given to the elderly at care homes who have not been infected with the new coronavirus and health staff at care homes. Next in line to receive the vaccine will be medical staff at hospitals who are at the highest risk of contracting the coronavirus. Government Covid-19 spokesman Jelko Kacin said that over 60,000 people could be vaccinated a month and the state secretary at the Ministry of Health Marija Magajne said that the vaccine does not mean that the pandemic is already over, but that this is likely the beginning of its end.
