Croatia is holding a national day of mourning for the victims of last Tuesday's earthquake, which left 7 people dead and dozens injured.

The worst affected areas were the town of Petrinja, where many homes were destroyed, and a number of outlying villages. The region lies to the southeast of the capital Zagreb.

Prime Minister Andrej Plenković spoke today to pay tribute to the victims.

He also tweeted that the entire country was united in solidarity with them and their families on a day of great sadness.

Flags are being flown at half mast, special programmes are being broadcast on national TV and radio, and all festive events have been banned for the day.
