Golobič denied the accusations of poor business results and long waiting times, saying these are not new problems. He took over his full term at the helm of UKC Ljubljana at the beginning of December last year after he had been acting director of the hospital for less than a year.

It is now up to the hospital's council to decide what to do next.

Slovenia's main hospital made a loss of EUR 28 million in the first half of the year, and it is said it could reach 60 million by the end of the year.
