The investigation comes after citizens started receiving letters in which Prime Minister Janez Janša thanked those who have been vaccinated for getting jabbed as well as urged the unvaccinated ones to reconsider this.

According to the privacy watchdog, Janša's office will have to explain how the personal data needed to address the letters was obtained and the legal basis used for this.

The procedure was launched on Friday.
