Pahor said it would be more useful and easuer for everyone if the winner of the election was successful in forming a government.

Janša said he would try his best to put together a workable coalition. Although his party, the SDS, won the elections, it did not win an outright majority. A number of parties have also ruled out a coalition with the SDS in the past.

The president ruled out calling early elections, saying it was absolutely too soon for that.
