Head teachers from the Maribor area expressed support for the young student protesters who were fined and summoned to court for taking part in a protest demanding a return to school.
The teenage high-school students received EUR 400 fines and summons for taking part in a small rally in Maribor for the reopening of schools.
The head teachers decided to openly back the students sending a letter to Education Minister Simona Kustec, supporting their freedom of expression.
The students have received wide public support, including from the mayor of Maribor, Saša Arsenovič, Slovenian President Borut Pahor, and the Slovenian PEN Centre.
