Slovenian cyclist Matej Mohorič finished 5th in the spring classic Paris-Roubaix, one of the oldest and most prestigious races in the world.

One of the five so-called 'Monuments' in cycling, it is also known by the moniker 'The Hell of the North' due to its many tricky cobbled sections.

The race is usually held in wet and muddy conditions but today it stayed dry, with one of the biggest incidents coming near the end of the race when one of the leaders came into contact with a spectator's hand and crashed.

Mohorič had been part of a 4-man breakaway for more than half of the nearly 260 km-long race.

It was won by Dutchman Dylan van Baarle, in a new record time of 5 hours, 37 minutes and 1 second.

Despite narrowly missing out on a podium place, Mohorič becomes the first Slovenian ever to finish in the top 10 of this particular Monument.
