The omicron variant has been confirmed in Slovenia. The prime minister said a cluster of infections was found in the capital. Miroslav Petrovec head of the institute for microbiology and immunology said the new variant was detected in four people. The Omicron variant is already present in most of Europe and other countries around the world. Available data says the variant spreads faster, but causes less severe symptoms. Health officials have meanwhile made a renewed called on the public to get vaccinated. Those already vaccinated are advised to get a third booster shot.
