A civil initiative has started collecting signatures against testing children for Covid-19 in high-schools and primary schools. This comes after Health Minister Janez Poklukar said the government would introduce testing for all children attending high-school and the last three years of primary school, when schools reopen. The plan is for kids to test themselves with rapid tests every week. Children who get a positive result, will then have to take a PCR test.
In just 24 hours the civil initiative collected 7,500 signatures against the self-testing of children in schools. School principals also expressed scepticism about the plan. The Health Ministry later said the testing will be voluntary.
