Today, on Slovenia’s national Independence and Unity Day, President Borut Pahor opened the doors to his presidential palace to public visitors. Visitors were able to tour the palace including Pahor’s office. Pahor also addressed the crowd in the fully packed grand hall of the palace saying that it is not necessary that the Slovenian people are always united, that they need to work together and be respectful and kind to one another, and if they stick together, they will turn every problem into their favor. Today Slovenia marks 28 years since the outcome of the independence plebiscite was declared in 1990. Slovenians then voted overwhelmingly in favor of independence, with the decision to leave Yugoslavia endorsed by 88.5% of all eligible voters.
