The Slovenian Motorway Management Company DARS estimates to have used more than 40,000 tons of de-icing agents on roads so far this winter.
In the last 9 days they have used more than 10,000 tons of de-icing materials for roads.
The average annual consumption is around 25,000 tons.
Despite the fact that low temperature are over DARS is warning drivers as roads are frozen below the surface. This means, when rain hits the road, chances are that black ice occurs.
DARS is prepared for this condition and they are conducting preventive de-icing measures on roads.
