Neither election winner Janez Janša nor runner-up Marjan Šarec have been able to put together a majority so far.

The first round is therefore over. The second round begins Friday and will last for 14 days. During this time, other candidates will be allowed to come forward.

Analysts believe it is unlikely the second round will be successful, as the parliament is splintered.
