To contain the coronavirus epidemic in Slovenia, new restrictions came into force today.

Two banks in Slovenia and a number of Slovenian retailers are reducing their opening hours. Some retailers will even limit the number of customers allowed inside a store at the same time. They are also encouraging shopping online. However, cash payments are mostly not allowed, nor is in-store pick-up.

Postal services operator Pošta Slovenije will continue delivering packages. It is also calling on its customers to accept the items without any physical contact at pre-arranged spots.

Insurance companies meanwhile closed their offices today and started to provide services solely by phone or on-line.

Other measures that came into force today include the closure of all educational institutions and most shops and suspension of public transportation.

Passenger flights in Slovenia will be banned as of midnight tonight. Air traffic will be suspended throughout the EU by the end of the month, while flight connections with non-EU members are suspended until further notice.

BY 2 PM today, there were 253 confirmed infections in Slovenia and more than 6700 people have been tested.
