It is called Merry Day of Culture and its effort is to reach out to those who rarely visit cultural institutions and events

It has been hugely successful in recent years, attracting around 30,000 visitors each time

Culture institutions in the capital, such as the National Gallery, the National Museum, the Modern Gallery and the Ethnographic Museum, have traditionally been the busiest locations.

The celebration of arts will coincide with the start of the European Year of Cultural Heritage in Slovenia, which the country will symbolically join at a ceremony at the National Gallery

A total of 320 exhibitions, theatre shows, concerts, workshops etc. by 140 organisers in 54 towns are on the programme.

Also a cover version of Slovenia's national anthem, which was written by Prešeren, will be released today to raise funds for inclusion of refugee children into Slovenian society.

The cover version features a number of Slovenian and immigrant celebrities.

They are performing Prešeren in Slovenian, Spanish and Arabic.

They will raise donations via text messages until Christmas.
