3 thirds of women aged 15 and above are mothers in Slovenia. Also the average age of the first birth is higher than before 30 years. Thus, in 2016 it was 29,4 years.

Mother's Day is being celebrated in the US since 1910, and the tradition spread also to Europe. Some countries started to celebrate this day already after World war II.

Slovenia is the only country which celebrates this day on the 25^th of March which is, according to Catholic tradition the Feast of the Annunciation.
